Campus Center

The Ray Van Den Heuvel Family Campus Center was originally a gymnasium and science observatory.  This was one of the earlier buildings of the campus.  The gymnasium was actually the fourth gymnasium at the college and was dedicated "The Gymnasium" in 1930.  About ten years after dedication, the building was renamed the Van Dyke Gymnasium by a unanimous vote of the faculty.  It was named so as a tribute to the college’s first student, Francis Van Dyke, who was recognized as the first athletic director at the college.  The building was then remodeled and an addition was added on in 2000 to create what is currently known as the Ray Van Den Heuvel Family Campus Center.  The Campus Center is a multi-purpose building for students to gather.  There is a gymnasium, cardiovascular center, entertainment room, patio, dock area, reflection lounge, mail center, and Phil’s, a tiny market where students can stock up on necessities and grab a snack or meal.
